Psychotherapy

What is it?
In general terms, psychotherapy is a therapeutic practice aimed at treating psychological problems, such as anxiety disorders, mood disorders and developmental disorders, as well as various emotional problems such as relationship problems, conflicts at work and several other issues that involve our mental health.
Psychotherapy is the main line of work for emotional problems and has some central goals:
-
Restore the patient's psychological functioning;
-
Allow the patient to understand the causes of what affects him, so that he can find psychological resources to deal with his difficulties, problems, etc.;
-
Develop means of acting in the world, redefining its traits ofpersonality;
-
Solve specific problems that afflict you, as well as observe issues of a more existential nature.
Online
psychotherapy
Online psychotherapy is supported by the Brazilian Board of Psychology through CFP Resolution No. 011/18 and follows the same precepts of the face-to-face approach, but with some specific differences, such as the lack of need for patient displacement, the use of communication technology and greater care with privacy as it does not occur in therapist-controlled environment.
With my patients, I use Zoom for appointments and send the link to the session when we start the process. In order for us to have a good experience in this format, some recommendations may help you when starting online psychotherapy:
Cognitive-Behavioral
Therapy
The way of acting and planning the psychological treatment depends on the theoretical and therapeutic approach that the professional follows. An approach is a perspective that involves certain assumptions about human behavior.

The approach I use for my consultations is that of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which contains some basic assumptions:

1. Thoughts influence our emotions and our behaviors;
2.Thoughts can be monitored and modified;
3. Desired emotion and behavior can be achieved by changing thinking.

For this approach, it is not the events themselves that are a problem, but the way we interpret them. In this sense, by modifying the form of interpretation, we can modify our reaction to them.
Interventions
Focuses
Just as not every architect works with all types of renovations and constructions, as a psychologist, I also have some specific intervention focuses:
Depression Anxiety Grief Interpersonal Relationships Stress Maladaptive behaviors in general health situations
